What are You Giving Your Attention to?

A purposeful mission requires our full attention. Many of us are so distracted that we rarely give anything our complete focus. When we allow our distractions (think multitasking with Blackberrys, iPhones, email, etc.) to drive our thinking, we make them more important than our mission. Remember, wherever our attention is focused is our current priority.

Focusing our full attention is a strength that requires practice. Take a moment and exercise your mind. Sit comfortably with your eyes closed. Take a few breathes to help quiet your thoughts, then take five minutes and do nothing but recite your mission over and over again in your mind. When you get distracted... and you will... just refocus yourself on your mission and keep repeating it over and over again.

Emerson explained the power of this approach when he said...

Sow a thought and you reap an action; Sow an act and you reap a habit; Sow a habit and you reap a character; Sow a character and you reap a destiny.
