Live and Lead with Excellence

The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential... these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.
— Confucius

The leadership disciplines for achieving breakthrough results –

At its core, leadership is about influencing change. Great leaders understand that determining what needs to change begins with their purpose. They regularly discuss the questions - where are they going and why does it matter - to inspire and motivate themselves and their team.

Great leaders persistently  learn and adapt. They use their situational awareness to see things as they really are, to inquisitively learn, to resourcefully create options, to make a clear decision, and then persistently act. Then repeat and repeat.

Effective leadership flows from our thoughts and beliefs. When our mindset fosters respect for others and creative problem solving our leadership becomes more productive because we act with greater integrity and foster greater trust

We are at our best when we apply a handful of time-tested skills and habits. This concepts include key habits, daily activities, and skills that help us do our best work.

What do you do when life throws you a curve ball?

In 2014 I began to experience the symptoms of Parkinson's Disease...

Parkinson’s is a neurodegenerative disorder that affects dopamine-producing neurons in a specific area of the brain–the substantia nigra. The progression of symptoms vary from person to person and the cause remains largely unknown. Although there is no cure, treatment options vary and include medications and surgery.

My symptoms are mild – I have a slight tremor in my right arm – and Parkinson's has given me great clarity. I feel compelled to live a life of integrity to principles and mindsets I believe in, to do what I've been called to do, to give back, to make each day the best it can be. Like with any challenge, we face what Steven Pressfield calls Resistance, the "force that seeks to stop us from pursuing our dream, launching a venture, sticking with a diet or any other worthy cause." It is this Resistance that keeps us from living and leading with excellence.

Most of us have two lives. The life we live, and the unlived life within us. Between the two stands Resistance.
— Steven Pressfield, The War of Art

I choose to lean into the Resistance, to turn challenges into opportunities, to take the road less taken, to live the unlived life! In my blog – X Notes – I share my personal journey and what I am learning, along with the moving stories of others who are living and leading with excellence in spite of the Resistance they face.

This is just one part of my mission...

My mission is to make a difference by –
